E Tū Tāngata in Action
An example of E Tū Tāngata in action was evidenced in response to the March 15 Christchurch shooting.
24-7 YouthWork saw a need to bring the country together as a way of supporting the victims and empowering people to respond. Colour Your Day was established and enacted.
Many schools, businesses and communities participated in the event contributing over six million dollars to support those impacted by the tragedy. The feedback from schools was positive, many acknowledged the campaign’s intuitive response; this was an appropriate and heartfelt opportunity for students to feel like they were supporting the people who had lost so much.
This is what it looks like when our country stands together - as an organisation (E Tū Tāngata) we acknowledged this event should not have happened in Christchurch or in New Zealand. We stood together to support people who call this country their home. And together, in colour, showed our solidarity.
